Pastor's Message

Great Big End of Summer Hello, TFBC Family,

Well, the kids are getting back into the school routine, and the days are getting shorter, so we all know that means the warmth of the season will soon give way to cooler days and the promise of fall. Did you know that even the changing of the seasons testifies to God’s faithfulness? Listen to this statement from Genesis chapter 8… "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." God, even natures sings your praise- SO SHOULD WE! You alone deserve our worship.

As we have this last stretch of summer, we are making plans for our Sunday night event for September... The Super Summer Sunday night schedule has worked so well for us that we are going to make that our approach to Sunday nights year round. We will do at least one event each month on Sunday nights, and will try to make it something really special. These will be opportunities for fellowship and connection that are so important for our church family. We need time just to spend with each other. On Sunday evening Sep. 26, we will have one of our Back To Mayberry nights starting at 6p with our Aunt Bea’s potluck supper, followed by an Andy Griffith Show episode and a related Bible study. It has been a while since we did one, it will be fun to dust off one of those old shows and enjoy it in a new light.

We have our Church Pictorial Directory Team together now. Angie Spoon, Dori Facemyer, Connie Sherrill, Ken Hayes, Lisa Markham, Robin Gobble, Deb Julian, Barbara Smith, Sharon Wrisley, and Nancy Trexler have agreed to help lead us through this project. Thank you so much for volunteering. Be listening for the timeframe for this to be announced.

Richard Hovator is making our
announcements during worship.  To do this effectively and efficiently, we ask that the following be observed for all announcements: e-mail your information to Richard (richard.hovater@gmail.com) or leave it in writing in the Children’s Ministry mailbox which is in the hallway by the Church Office. No phone calls please! Remember, Richard is a college student and uses his cell phone at his own expense. All requests are due no later than noon each Thursday.

In closing, two last things… first, I am so excited about our Youth Pastor coming before you for a vote on Sep. 12. The Search Committee has done a great job, and as we have all prayed for God’s direction, I believe that He has provided it. Last item- many of us at this very moment may be desperate to hear from God, to know that He is there, to believe that He will lead us. I leave you with our memory verse for the month. It is the first portion of II Chronicles 16:9 from the NASB "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” God, as we trust you completely with our hearts, You have promised to strongly support us. Lord, our hearts are yours- we take you at your word!

With a Shepherds Love,
Pastor Mike
