Philosophy of Ministry

Our Mission Statement

At Trading Ford, we desire to be a dynamic, spiritual body
empowered by the Holy spirit to exalt Christ and to share Christ
throughout the world.

We desire to be a fellowship that builds up the body of Christ
 so that we remain steadfast in the faith.

We desire to be a united fellowship of baptized believers in Jesus Christ,
 worshipping our lord through prayer, praise,
reading and preaching the Word, singing and bringing tithes and offerings.

 WHO WE ARE

By denomination Trading Ford Baptist is a fully cooperating member of the Southern Baptist Convention. By profession we are a local body of baptized believers who have claimed Christ as Savior and Lord, and are bound together by love and a commitment to do our Lord's work in this community.

Membership

Membership in Trading Ford is open to persons who are led of the Lord to join with us.

It is the custom of our church to sing a hymn of invitation at the close of every service. During the singing of this hymn you are invited to make your way to the front pew where the Minister is waiting to receive you, should you feel led of God's Spirit, by any of the ways explained below:

       1. Profession of faith -Convicted of your sin and repentant toward God, you willingly accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and profess Him publicly as a candidate for believer's baptism.

       2. By letter -If you are a member of a Baptist church elsewhere, you come on promise of a letter from that church, which we will secure for you.

       3. By Statement -That you are a member of a Baptist Church or have been a member and for some reason the record of your membership is not obtainable.

       4. By Baptism -If you are a Christian but you have not been scripturally baptized, you can present yourself for baptism and become a member of our church.

       We realize that joining a church does not save anyone because only Christ can save us. We join a church for Christian fellowship, inspiration, spiritual nurture, and to seek an avenue of service.

       (* Any person coming by letter, statement, or baptism will come under watch care until visited by Pastor and Deacons to introduce them to our church.)

Our Objective

1. Our objective is to be a fellowship of baptized I believers in Jesus Christ, the head of the church, who seek to spread the truth of salvation in our community and throughout the world.

2. Our objective is to be a united fellowship in which different talents and gifts of fellow believers are  recognized and nurtured as we in love do the ministries entrusted to us by Jesus Christ through his word, the Bible.

3. Our objective is to be a fellowship that meets regularly to worship our Lord through prayer, praise, reading and preaching the Word, singing, bringing of the tithes and offerings and the committing of ourselves in service to Jesus as we look daily for his return.

Our Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God,
to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior,
and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost...

We do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into a covenant with one another, as one body of Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit.

  • To promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines;

  • To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and
  • To walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort;

  • To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

  • We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions.

  • To religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances;

  • To walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment;

  • To avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger;

  • To abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and

  • To be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

  • We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love.

  • To remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress;

  • To cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech;

  • To be mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we  will, as soon as possible,
unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant
and the principles of God's Word.
